HELPING SMALLHOLDER FARMERS SUCCEED

AGRICULTURE PROGRAM

Today, three out of four Guatemalans live below the poverty line. Most hardworking people struggle to meet their families’ basic needs, especially in rural, indigenous communities. In these villages, where food production is the foundation of the economy, eight in ten children are chronically malnourished.

That’s why we’re working in the poorest regions of Guatemala to help smallholder farmers and their families put more food on their tables and more money in their pockets.

In partnership with agricultural industry leaders like Disagro and Mosaic, HELPS is connecting smallholder farmers with the resources they need to boost and diversify crop production.

With expert training, new technologies and unsubsidized loans, participating farmers produce a greater crop yield, building wealth and stability for their families and communities.

PROGRAM IMPACT

146

communities across Guatemala are part of the program today.

17,440

"My neighbors and I were planting our crops without having all the knowledge we needed. With training, we learned to make the most of our soil and our space.  Now, we're improving our harvests and we're improving our incomes."
